The status of the former library building, alcohol in Central Park, and consideration of bio-solids bids will be discussed at tonight’s special session meeting of the Washington City Council. The former library building underwent a facility study and last April the council considered moving City Hall into the building or selling the property. According to City Administrator Brent Hinson, facility tours have occurred with interested parties but no credible proposals have come forward. In a memo to council, he recommends renovating the building to be used as City Hall and then purchasing property nearby for a city parking lot. The property purchase will be discussed in closed session this evening.
Current code states no alcohol shall be displayed or consumed in Central Park, but organizations have approached city officials to allow it for certain community events.
Three bids were received for bio-solids ranging from $90,000 to $153,000.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Washington Public Library.
