Two KCII area schools from the South Iowa Cedar League met on the golf course Monday afternoon in Keota. The Keota Eagles boys’ and girls’ golf teams welcomed the Sigourney Savages to Lagos Acres Golf Course for a pair of conference duals. The Savages swept the matches, winning the boys’ round 181-193 and the girls’ set 201-273.
Sigourney sophomore Kaden Bensen had the best score, finishing the nine-hole course in 40 strokes. To shoot even par at the Lagos Acres Golf Course, a person must complete the round in 36 strokes. Junior Jordan Albert finished second overall in the boys’ dual, finishing with a nine hole score of 45.
Keota’s top boys’ golfer was senior Grant Hill, who completed the meet in 46 shots. Senior John Mather and junior Zach Mousel each scored below 50 for the meet, shooting 48 and 49 strokes respectively.
Sigourney junior Stacy Mohr had the best girls’ score of the dual, completing the course in 47 strokes. There would be a three-way tie for second place with Savage teammates senior Katie Dillon, sophomore Kendall Streigle and Keota junior Grace Shemanski, who all finished the round in 50 shots.
The Keota golf teams return to competition Thursday against the Iowa Valley Tigers at Lagos Acres Golf Course. Sigourney’s boys’ and girls’ golf teams next duals are in Hartwick Monday evening against the Hartwick-Ladora-Victor Warriors.
