The Washington Demon girls’ track team put together a good team performance Tuesday afternoon in West Burlington. Washington participated in the Falcon Relays with several individuals scoring team points for the Demons.

Senior sprinter Macy Marek was one of two Demon first place finisher at the meet. Marek won the 200 meter dash competition with a time of 26.98 seconds. Marek finished in second place in the 100 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.93 seconds.

Junior distance runner Emme Keith was the other Washington first place finisher. Keith won the 3000 meter run in 12:22.82 seconds, 12 seconds better than the competition field. Keith also placed third in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:45.04.

Washington had two second place finisher in two main field events. Demon senior Dylan Schluetter finished in second place in discuss throw, tossing the discuss 101 feet four inches. Senior Makennna Goodwin threw the shot put 31 feet three inches for another second place finish for Washington.

Washington scored 85 team points, placing a distant second in the meet behind Southeast Conference rival Mount Pleasant. The Panthers ran away with the meet title, scoring 197 points. Washington finished ahead of conference foes Keokuk (84 points) and Fairfield (56 points).

The Washington Demon girls’ track team is scheduled to compete in the Bullette Relays Thursday evening at Mediapolis High School.
