In Washington in the month of January total snowfall was above the normal amount, according to the National Weather Service. Total snowfall observed was 8.1 inches while the normal is 6.4 inches. The record snowfall for Washington for the first month of the year was set in 1979 with two feet of snow.
Temperatures were also above the normal, with the average temperature observed at 21.8 degrees while the normal is 20.9 degrees.
Also, according to the NWS, total snowfall since July 1st is below normal, with 12.9 recorded and the normal being 13.1.
