Nearly a foot of snow fell in Kalona over the weekend. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says staff logged around 90 hours in the city’s plows between Sunday and Tuesday morning to remove the snow from roadways.

The city handles the plowing, but companies in Kalona and Wellman help by loading the snow and hauling it to the parking lot on the east side of Kalona City Park.

Schlabaugh says there’s drainage nearby that will handle the influx of water when the pile melts.
