Mount Pleasant is receiving state money to improve access to an area intended for professional offices. The Iowa Transportation Commission approved up to $115,220 in funding through the RISE program to partially finance the extension of Savannah Street by over 600 feet.
The project on the city’s east side will open up nearly eight acres for development. An August 2015 finish is expected for the construction.
According to Craig Markley, director of the Office of Systems Planning, $18 million is made available to Iowa cities and counties through the RISE, or Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy, program each year.
