A new program in Iowa may be coming to Washington County to help attract and employ veterans in the area. Washington Economic Development Group is holding an informational meeting tomorrow at the new Kirkwood Regional Center about the Home Base Iowa program, which Governor Terry Brandstad signed on Memorial Day of this year. Home Base Iowa includes military pension tax exemption and homeownership assistance, among other provisions.

The program director Kathy Anderson and IowaWorks regional director Scott Mather will speak of the requirements to get Washington County a certified community for the Home Base Iowa program. Pre-registration is requested for the event.
