Wellman’s annual 4th of July celebration is coming up on Friday. According to chairperson of the festival’s organizing committee, Shawn Powell, it’s been held for at least 40 years. The Chamber of Commerce event is made possible by their 36 corporate sponsors, but also individuals in the community. Powell says they have residents generously donate anywhere from $5 to $100 to help the chamber finance the celebration.
