The snowmelt and rainfall that the area saw a few weeks ago did little to help the drought situation. State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says the frozen ground has led to a lot of runoff into farm ponds, rivers and reservoirs. No help is expected for our struggling soil moisture, which was below average when the ground froze in the middle of November.
