A public hearing has been set for the use of all-terrain vehicles and off-road utility vehicles on county roadways for January14th. The Washington County Board of Supervisors set the public hearing yesterday. The board was initially approached in late September regarding passing an ordinance to allow ATVs on county roads. Yesterday, supervisor Richard Young stated that the group had met and that the ordinance had been reviewed by the county attorney.
Washington County Public Health Director, Danielle Pettit-Majewski advised the board that statistically, ATV accidents on roadyways are more likely to result in trauma and tramautic brain injuries.
