A deputy of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was recognized Tuesday by the Washington County Board of Supervisors for his decades of service.
The supervisors recognized Chief Deputy Chad Ellis for 20 years of service. Ellis was hired by then Chief Jailer Stan Stoops in 1996, who now sits on the board of supervisors. That began his career in law enforcement in Washington County.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is composed of 22 sworn law enforcement officers. All deputies and supervisors are certified through the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. The office provides law enforcement services across all 567 square miles of Washington County, serving approximately 22,000 residents.
