The Washington boys track team continued to honor their late teammate Carson Ryan in a big way at the state meet in Des Moines this week.
Ryan, who would have been a senior this season, was listed as an alternate for the Demons’ 4×800 relay. Washington boys track coach Steve Roth says the team continues to keep Ryan in their hearts and minds, “I called the state, I asked permission, and they said sure, they just said nothing against it. He was on the 4×800 team last year, he medaled, he went 1:59.2 last year, he’s still part of this team. Keeping him in our memory.”
The 4×800 team has been a cornerstone for Washington this season. The team of Ethan Hotchkiss, Sawyer Tschantz, Parker Tschantz, and Andrew Rees finished seventh in Class 3A on Thursday, setting a season best time of 8:02.56.
