It’s been a season of high-level golf from teams in the KCII listening area and it culminated with a big day Tuesday at the boys Class 1A District meet in Oskaloosa.
The Sigourney Savages are on their way to state for the second straight year. The Savages were team runners-up in the field of 12 with their total of 323. East Marshall was the winner at 309. Sigourney’s Jordan Tremmel continued his great play with a three-over-par 75 to finish third individually. East Marshall’s Cody Weaver was the individual champ, finishing in the red at five-under 67. Other scorecards for the Savages included Josh Wyatt 80, Solon Yates 83, Ike Molyneux and Landon Conrad 85 and Chase Clarahan 97.
Winfield-Mt. Union is on their way to state, their second trip in the last three years. WMU finished third with their team total of 326. Justin Knipfer was best with a five-over 77. He was followed by Cody Milks and Konner Kinneberg at 80 each. Grant Anderson 89, Nicholas Sparrow 90, and Max Edwards 99.
Hillcrest Academy saw their team season draw to a close but Rowan Miller was able to make it to state for the third year in the last four as an individual. Miller was medalist runner-up with a two-over 74. Other Raven scores were Lawson Schrock 81, Matthew Chalupa 86, Ethan Yoder and Jack Turner 89 each, and Rylan Good 94.
The Keota Eagles finished on the outside looking in with a fifth place 332. Brennan McGuire was best with his six-over 78. Other Keota cards included Porter Cave 83, Aspen Galindo 85, Tucker Sprouse 86, Jacob Libe 96, and Blake Baker 99.
It was also the end of the road for the WACO Warriors who were 12th with a 364. Ian Maize was the top Warrior score with an 11-over 83. Other Warriors were Teage Pepper 86, Nick West 96, Malachi Rinner 99, Carsten Wilson 100 and Kellen Shelman 104.
The Savages, the Wolves and Hillcrest’s Miller all advance to next week’s Class 1A State Championships at Westwood Golf Course in Newton.
