
The Lone Tree Lady Lions hit the ground running in their season opener Monday, defeating Columbus 15-0 in four innings.
Lone Tree wasted no time in taking a massive lead, scoring nine runs at the top of the first. After a quick bottom half, the Lady Lions added six more in the second, getting the game quickly into run rule territory. After a couple of scoreless innings, the game was called after four, giving Lone Tree its first victory of the season.
The Lady Lions received multi-hit games from Abby Zaruba, Olivia Magruder, Alyson Ford, Adi Parizek, Maggie Burke, and Ella Magruder. Zaruba earned the win in the circle, pitching three innings and striking out seven.
Lone Tree faces off against Central Lee on Friday, while Columbus travels to Mediapolis next Monday.
