Winfield-Mt. Union/Columbus baseball played up a class to begin its 2026 summer season, but found themselves shut out by the Greyhounds of Burlington, 9-0.

The Greyhounds did all of their scoring work in just two innings, scoring three runs in the second inning and six more in the third. Burlington pitcher Noah Krieger pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits while striking out seven to earn the win. Senior Trevor Phillips took the loss for the Wolves, going three innings and giving up three earned runs. Phillips, freshman Graham Haines, and sophomore Carter Finnell all picked up hits for WMU.

The Wolves continue their season next Tuesday against West Burlington.
