The River Valley Conference soccer season rolled on Friday for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls and boys with a road trip to Alburnett. The Golden Hawk girls opened the night with 4-0 victory. The Hawks were in control from the opening kick, putting a three-spot on the board in the first 40 minutes to build a 3-0 lead, before tacking on an insurance tally in the second half. Mid-Prairie outshot Cedar Valley Christian/Alburnett 7-6 and won corner kicks 8-1. The Golden Hawks spread the scoring with Avery Helmuth, Gabby Geno and Meadow Flynn at a goal each. The Mid-Prairie defense pressured the Huskies into an own goal. Flynn had two assists and Helmuth one. Niva Helmuth made four saves in goal for the Golden Hawks, to preserve their ninth shut out of the year and set a new program record. The win has Mid-Prairie at 9-3 with CVC/Alburnett drops to 4-7-1.
The nightcap went the home teams way 2-1. The Huskies started strong with a pair of first half goals to build their 2-0 lead. The Hawks were dangerous in the second half with John Adam finding the back of the net on a Peyton Fox assist to cut the deficit in half, but Mid-Prairie could not find the equalizer in the second 40 minutes. Each team had six shots on goal and two corner kicks. Jeefbeni Ngoy had both goals for the Huskies. Landon Conn was the winner in goal on a seven save night. Mac Yoder made six stops for Mid-Prairie. The Golden Hawks are now 3-7-2 this year, while the Huskies improve to 7-4-4.
