The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track and field teams put on a show for the home crowd Monday at the Golden Hawk Co-Ed Relays at Dwight G. Sattler Field in Wellman.
The Golden Hawk girls blew away the competition with 114 points. Benton was second with 54. Sixteen titles went home with the Hawks. Multi-time individual champs included Jovi Evans with a sprint triple in the 100 at 12.08 seconds, 200 at 25.23 seconds and the 400 in 1:00.95. Harper Pacha took both throws events, the discus at 116’10” and shot put at 40’1″. Kendal Landstrum was a double individual distance winner in the 3000 at 11:36.37, and the 1500 in 5:07.57.
Single individual event winners were Sophie Miller in the 100 hurdles at 16.30 seconds, Jeorgia Evans in long jump at 17’1”. Tessa Brokaw in the 800 at 2:26.95 and Ruby Miller in the 400 hurdles in 1:16.85.
Relay championships belonged to the sprint medley of Myli Hershberger, Kyrie Poll, Leah Kelley and Ruby Miller in 1:56.76, the 4×800 of Rachel Hostetler, Brokaw, Brooklyn Stutzman and Landstrum in 10:15.94, the shuttle hurdle of Sophie Miller, Sierra Crowner, Olivia Schlabach and Ruby Miller at 1:11.30, the distance medley with Kelley, Poll, Hostetler and Brokaw in 4:34.73, and the 4×1 with Jeorgia and Jovi Evans, Poll and Hershberger 50.07 seconds.
The Golden Hawk boys were meet winners with a 175.5 team total over second place Benton’s 168. The Hawks won 11 event championships on the evening. Multi individual event champs included Max Swartzentruber in the two-mile in 10:22.94 and the 1600 in 4:43.44 and Tommy Miller in both throws events, discus at 161’10” and shot put at 53’5”.
Individual single event champs were Thomas Lueck in long jump at 20’6”, Carson Humphrey in the 110 hurdles at 15.25 seconds, and Ryan Henry in the 100 with a school record 10.78 seconds.
Relay event titles went to the 4×400 of Bronx Miller, Kendrick Kos, Oliver Miller and Nolan Jergens in 3:38.71, the 4×100 with Oliver Miller, Kos, Jergens and Henry in 42.97 seconds, the 4×200 with Jergens, Kos, Bronx Miller and Henry 1:31.48 and the shuttle with Kos, Lueck, Humphrey and Oliver Miller in 1:04.14.
Runners-up included Henry in the 200, the sprint med with Cecil Kelley, Humphrey, Jergens and Bronx Miller and the distance med with Lueck, Theo Molczyk, Samuel Friesen and Max Kipp.
