Two local teams took one final shot at qualifying events for the Drake Relays when the Hillcrest Academy Raven and Highland Huskies boys and girls track teams traveled to Lisbon Thursday night.

The Highland girls had the best area team finish of the night, placing third of 11 with 82 points. Anamosa won the girls team championship with 129 points. The Huskies had four event champions Thursday. It was a double individual gold night for Grace Bombei, winning the 3000 in 12:36.56 and the 1500 in 5:37.05. In field events, it was a long jump championship for Alexa Hahn with a new meet record 16’8.25”. The 4×200 team was also a winner with Sienna Bell, Hailey Brun, Kinzie Ruess and Hahn setting a new meet record at 1:50.84. Other top finishes included Ruess runner-up in high jump, Hahn third in the 100 and Chloe Sexton third in shot put.

The Hillcrest girls were ninth of 11 teams with 28 points. Rya Scott brought home the title in the 200 with a new meet record 26.36 seconds. She also finished runner-up in the 100. Her sister Adia Scott was fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200.

On the boys side of the meet Highland was 11th of 12 team scoring 15 points. Alburnett won the championship at 147 points. Brock Nebergall was third to lead in the Huskies in the 800. The Highland distance med of Elvin Hernandez, Caleb Wheeler, Nebergall and Noah Hartzler were fourth.

The Raven boys were 12th of 12 teams with eight points, keyed by Gibson Scott’s third place in the 110 hurdles.
