
Columbus’ track teams were a force to be reckoned with at Central City on Thursday, with the boys claiming the team championship and the girls picking up second.
There were individual championships aplenty for the Columbus boys, who scored 209 team points to clear the field. First place finishes included Lamar Ceant in the 100m with a time of 11.12 and in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.98, Domonic Garcia in the 200m with a time of 23.14, Cade Storm in the 1600m with a time of 5:10.99, Victor Tovar in the 3200m with a time of 11:04.18, Tyson Corneille in the high jump with a height of 5’10”, the 4x100m relay team with a time of 44.09, the 4x200m relay team with a time of 1:30.23, and the 4x110m shuttle hurdle relay team with a time of 1:02.13.
Second place finishes included Garcia in the 100m, Lando Garza in the 400m, Elias Gonzalez Bravo in the 1600m, Alexander Rees in the 400m hurdles, Corneille in the long jump, Fritz Figaro in the shot put and discus, the 1600m distance medley relay team, and the 4x800m relay team.
Third place finishers were Kevin Villa in the 800m, Dante Orozco-Gutierrez in the 110m hurdles, Gray Spillman in the high jump, Ronaldo Villegas in the discus, the 4x400m relay team, and the 800m sprint medley relay team.
Meanwhile, the Columbus girls placed second with 104 team points. Individual champions included Ella Howell in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:11.32 and the long jump with a distance of 15’10”, Gabriela Duran in the 3000m with a time of 12:40.42, Bella Forbes in the shot put with a distance of 35’06.75″, and Kaylee McCullough in the discus with a throw of 97’01”.
Second places finishes included Howell in the 100m, Duran in the 800m, and Forbes in the discus. Ivy Dennler placed third in the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles.
