Angeline Anderson and Angelique Murillo Hernandez had no issues slicing and dicing through the Mount Pleasant defense on Thursday, as the Demons waltzed to their second straight victory at 10-0.

Anderson and Hernandez were undoubtedly the stars of the show on this day, with both seniors scoring 4 goals a piece. Anderson also accounted for three assists, making her involved with 70 percent of the Demons’ goals for the game. Maya Bruty and Jocci Carter also added to their scoring totals for the season. Washington netted seven goals in the first half, and got the three they needed in the second half to call the game early due to the mercy rule.

Washington took 34 shots Thursday, 22 of which were on goal. The Demons are now 2-2 on the year, and face Fairfield at home on Monday.

In the boys’ contest, played at Mount Pleasant due to field conditions at Washington Wellness Park, the Demons fought hard but ultimately couldn’t become the first to defeat the Panthers this season, falling 2-1. Freshman Santiago Ramirez continued to show his stuff in his first varsity campaign, scoring Washington’s only goal, but goals for Mount Pleasant’s Asa Rose and Joshua Aguma sealed the deal for the Panthers.

Washington falls to 3-2-1 on the year, and will hit the road to Jefferson County on Monday to also face off against Fairfield.
