Tuesday was senior Solon Yates time to shine for the Sigourney Savage boys golf team. Yates won the individual championship at the Albia Invitational. He beat the field with a four-over 76, leading the Savages to a second place team finish and score of 326. The home Blue Demons bested Sigourney by four shots to win the eight team event. This week, Sigourney head coach Zach Tremmel spoke with KCII Sports about the day for Yates and his team.

Tremmel said, “We came out and we struggled early, but we battled through the adversity. Solon (Yates) paced us. He shot 76, which was a great round for us to earn medalist. Jordan (Tremmel) was able to save his round and still shot a 79 to get third overall. Landon Conrad had a solid round. We just struggled to find a fourth score that day.”

Other scores for the Savages included Jordan Tremmel 79, Landon Conrad 83, Ike Molyneux 90, Josh Wyatt 91 and Chase Clarahan 100.
