
Two local track teams took center stage Thursday at the Tipton Tiger and Tigrette Co-ed Relays.
The Mid-Prairie girls finished second in the team race to Northeast Goose Lake by a single point, scoring 116. The Golden Hawks won five events on the evening including Jovi Evans in the 100 at 12.35 seconds. The 4×200 team of Jeorgia Evans, Kyrie Poll, Myli Hershberger and Jovi Evans were winners in 1:45.33, as was the 4×800 in 9:46.21 with Kendal Landstrum, Tessa Brokaw, Brooklyn Stutzman and Rachel Hostetler. It was a 1-2 Golden Hawk finish in the 1500 with Landstrum the winner in 5:02.93 and Stutzman second. In field events, Harper Pacha took shot put with a winning throw of 39’2”.
Mid-Prairie finished second in two events including Jeorgia Evans in long jump and the 4×400 team of Jeorgia and Jovi Evans, Brokaw and Hostetler. Third place events included Ruby Miller in the 400 hurdles, the distance medley with Leah Kelley, Hannah Rodgers, Graci Hershberger, and Nikkari Poll and the shuttle hurdle with Sophie Miller, Sierra Crowner, Olivia Schlabach and Ruby Miller.
On the boys side of the meet, the Sigourney Savages were third with 95 points. West Liberty won the meet with 114. Three Sigourney events won titles, two of them belonged to Troy Klett with a 3200 win in 10:13.25 and the 800 in 2:02.99. Hunter Sellers won the high jump championship, clearing 5’8”. Other top performances included Klett runner-up in the mile and Aiden Knepper second in long jump. Third place included Gauge Little in the 400, Cole Klett in the two-mile, the 4×400 team of Brayden Wood, Isaac Jones, Little and Troy Klett and the distance medley with Knepper, Wyatt Wehr, Wood and Troy Klett.
