The Columbus Wildcats split their boy-girl doubleheader against Mediapolis on Tuesday, the boys earning their second win 2-0 while the girls fell 3-0.
The boys sought to get back into the win column after losses to Decorah and Hudson over the weekend. They did exactly that, with a goal in both the first and second half, coming off the boots of Ryan Villa and Rickenley Ambroise. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Leo Corona saved all five shots he faced, keeping the Bulldogs off the board for what turned out to be a shutout victory. Columbus improves to 2-3-2 on the boys’ side.
Meanwhile, the girls had their opportunities, but couldn’t get past the Mediapolis goalkeeper. Jordyn Sharp saved all six shots she faced. The Bulldogs got a brace from Amelia Greer, and an extra goal from Avery Bailey to take the 3-0 win. Columbus falls to 2-2 for the year.
