
Washington and WACO competed at the WACO Relays on Monday, making up for time lost after the meet was originally postponed.
Washington placed third with 117 team points. The Demons got individual championships from Sawyer Tschantz in the 1600m with a time of 4:42.49 and the 4x800m team of Andrew Rees, Ethan Hotchkiss, Sawyer Tschantz, and Parker Tschantz with a time of 8:17.14. Second place performances came from Kael Williams in the 100m, Parker Tschantz in the 800m, Ethan Hotchkiss in the 1600m, the 4×100 team of Eli Wulf, Nic Stone, Kael Williams, and Liam Roberts and the 4×200 team of Kael Williams, JaxRay Whisler, Junior Valdez, and Easton Davis. Third place Demons included Wulf in the 100m, Andrew Rees in the 800m, Jack Shepard in the 3200m, the 800m sprint medley team of Logan Hoback, Easton Rugg, Davis, and Clayton Bartholomew, and the 1600m distance medley team of Christopher Richardson, Kyler Williams, Bartholomew, and Teag Miller.
WACO placed fourth with 100 team points. Jude Dykstra won the Warriors’ lone individual championship in the 800m with a time of 2:02.87. Second place Warriors included Hayden Shelman in the 200m, the team of Dykstra, Garrett Landau, Locken Henderson, and Gavin Slagel in the 4x800m, Sam Meyer in the discus, and the 4×110 shuttle hurdle relay. Third place Warriors included Landau in the 3200m, Easton Whittemore in the 400m hurdles, Shelman in the long jump, and the 4x400m relay team.
The WACO girls also ran Monday at their home field, taking first in a three-team meet against Van Buren and Springville. Individual champions for the Warriors included Ryen Pepper in the 100m with a time of 13.54, and in the 200m with a time of 26.83, Josie Dykstra in the 400m with a time of 1:02.29, and in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.43, Carlee Lunsford in the 800m with a time of 2:32.28, Macie Carter in the 1500m with a time of 5:26.50, and in the 3000m with a time of 11:49.52, and Madelyn Farmer in the long jump with a distance of 15’05”.
