It’s a step up the ladder for the Washington Demon girls’ golf squad, with the team placing third at the SEC meet in Fairfield on Thursday.

The Demons shot a 203 for the day, good for a third place finish behind Fort Madison and Mount Pleasant. The Bloodhounds and Panthers shared first place at 194. Senior Adalyn Long and sophomore Elizabeth Hora were the top performers for Washington, shooting a 7-over 44 each, good for a three-way tie for second with Keokuk’s Carrigan Morris. Cecilia Mitchell shot a 20-over 57, Lucy Sands and Ashlynn Long shot a 58 and 59, while Sydney Stouder shot a 65.

Washington finished ahead of both the hosts, Fairfield, and Keokuk.
