If you’re drinking and driving, luck won’t be on your side this St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Local law enforcement including the Washington, Louisa and Henry County Sheriff’s Offices have plans to step up enforcement to combat drunk driving. The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau in their “Safe Driving Takes More Than Luck.” enforcement weekend. 

If your plans include drinking for the holiday, make sure they also include a sober ride. Last March, the Iowa Department of Transportation reported 148 crashes and five traffic fatalities on Iowa roadways.
