Youth in Washington County have a chance to get involved in livestock judging this spring.

Washington County 4-H has had both state and national level success in the livestock judging project area, and they are ready to take on the competitive edge by hosting their upcoming workouts.

This project allows livestock exhibitors to learn more about each of the large animal species or become more of an expert in the species they show. It is a way for beginning showmen to meet others in the same project area.

Spring workouts will be held at the Washington County Extension Office from 6 -7:30 p.m. every Sunday in March. In May, they will transition to outdoor practices. The group will be divided into groups based on experience with hands-on relevant practice and learning. All 4-H and FFA members interested in livestock judging are invited to attend. No prior experience is needed.  4-H Livestock Judging coaches are 4-H volunteers Derek Henningsen, Chad Younge, and Ted Greiner.

For more information on 4-H livestock judging or how to get involved as a volunteer, partner or participant, contact the Washington County Extension Office.
