Three players who put their stamp on the local girls basketball season will represent southeast Iowa in the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Larry Niemeyer Senior All-Star Series.
The Washington Demons will have Addy Long participate in the event. Long was chosen as a member of the Class 3A White team. Long, was an All-Southeast Conference and IGCA All-Region selection this year. In her final season with the Demons, Long led the way with 316 points, 62 assists, 49 made threes and 46 steals. Her All-Star team coach is Washington alum Stephanie Dacey who was a part of a dominant chapter of Demon girls basketball that saw them three-peat as 3A State Champs from 1999-2001. Joining the two Demons on the 3A White team are Claire King and Ruth Tauber of Dubuque Wahlert, Elsa Tiefenthaler of Caroll Kuemper Catholic, Grace Holsteen and Ellah Wagenbach of Mediapolis, Hallie Husted of Davis County, Maggie Bruinsma of Spirit Lake, and Kenna Sandoval of Central Lee.
Highland’s Emersyn Schultz and Lone Tree’s Ava Christofferson are members of the Class 1A White team. Christofferson loaded up for the Lady Lions with 312 points, 94 rebounds, 53 steals and 25 assists while Schultz helped the Huskies with 125 points, 107 boards, 62 assists and 27 steals. Both were All-Southeast Iowa Superconference selections. They will be joined on the White team by Kate Bechtel of Lake Mills, Claire Erselius of Montezuma, Addison Winters of Kee Lansing, Payton Whipple of West Hancock, Kadence Sporrer of Exira EHK, Carley Nielson of Algona Bishop Garrigan, Addison Steinlage of Turkey Valley Jackson Junction, and Lilee Boriskey of Edgewood-Colesburg.
The IGCA Larry Niemeyer Senior All-Star Games are scheduled for Saturday, March 14th at Cedar Falls High School.
