
The month of February was dry for Washington.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, last month Washington observed less than a quarter-of-an-inch of precipitation. The normal amount for the second month of the year is one and a half inches. In addition, only one inch of snow was observed, well below the normal amount of 8.1 inches.
In February, Washington’s average temperature overall was 47 degrees, while the normal average is 30 degrees. The warmest day on record for the month of February was 70 degrees.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, as of Thursday all of southeast Iowa is experiencing drought conditions. That includes severe drought conditions in parts of Keokuk, Washington, and Henry counties, and most of Jefferson County.
