Part of the City of Washington was without power, and additional outages were reported elsewhere in the county Thursday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m., the northwest side of Washington experienced a power outage. Local officials stated that a transformer had blown on the north side of town, and Alliant Energy had sent a crew to respond. As of 12:30 p.m. power had not yet been restored completely.
According to Alliant Energy’s outage center, power outages were present in West Chester and Brighton as well. Nearly 1,000 customers were listed as being without power. The outage center noted wildlife as a cause for the outage.
