The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team completed a successful campaign this winter and landed among the best in the state statistically.
In Class 3A, the Golden Hawk girls had the third most assists at 16 per game. Katelyn Harland’s 74 assists led the way individually. Their 15.3 steals per night were fifth most in the state, paced by 75 takeaways from Jeorgia Evans. The Hawks put up 57 points per game, ninth most in the state, with a 30.1% team three point percentage, also ninth. Morgyn Bender’s 320 points were best individually, as was her 32% from three. As a group, their 39.4% team field goal percentage was 10th best. Jovi Evans led at 48.1%.
Mid-Prairie finished as River Valley Conference runners-up with a 12-2 record. They were 18-6 overall, most wins since 2013. The Golden Hawks were ranked No. 12 in the final Class 3A poll of the season from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and wrapped up their year in the Regional Final round of the tournament.
