A new mini pantry in Washington hopes to make a big impact on the city.

The mini pantry movement is a grassroots, crowdsourced solution to immediate and local needs. Whether a need for food or a need to give, mini pantries help feed neighbors.

The McCreedy Drive Mini Pantry operated by Ginny Timmerman located at 120 McCreedy Drive has been open since the beginning of the year, and received their nonprofit status at the end of January.

Timmerman shared the goals of the pantry for the future, and how community members can access the mini pantry, “Our goal is by the end of May, June, to be a mobile pantry as well. So, it’s a nice little free standing pantry in our front yard that’s open 24 hours a day. People can help themselves, no questions asked.”

Their mission statement states that they exist to provide free, accessible food and essential items to neighbors in a way that is dignified, judgment-free, and rooted in community care.

Donations to the pantry can be dropped off at any time. And those needing items can access the pantry at any time.
