
Farm owners are able to now apply for Century and Heritage Farm recognitions.
The program is part of the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. Families who have owned their farms for 100 years and 150 years are recognized through the program from the Department and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. This is the 50th year for the Century Farm Program and the 19th year of the Heritage Farm Program.
At this time, Washington County is home to 44 heritage farms. And more than 21,000 farms across Iowa have been recognized.
Applications for the recognitions are due by June 1st. The 2026 Century and Heritage Farm families will be honored during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair. The applications can be found with this news story at KCIIRadio.com.
