The Sigourney Savage boys basketball team ended their season in the Class 1A District semifinals Thursday, falling to Montezuma 51-41 on the road. On top 11-10 after one, the second period would be the Savages undoing as Montezuma went on a 15-4 run that gave them a lead they wouldn’t give up at 25-15 at half. The two teams were completely even at 26 points apiece after halftime. Montezuma out shot Sigourney 39-34% on the night, winning the glass 33-31, and assists 10-7. The Savages had 11 blocked shots and each team had 12 turnovers.

Brady Boulton led both sides, with the Montezuma guard going double double on 17 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Talen Holland added 10 points. John Berg had a double double for Sigourney with 10 points and 14 boards. Ike Molyneux had a team high 15 points and Brayden Wood scored 11. The loss ends Sigourney’s season at 18-5. Montezuma is 20-4 and will meet Lynnville-Sully for the District 7 Championship tonight. The Savages say goodbye to four seniors including Solon Yates, Ty Goldman, John Berg and Brayden Wood.
