
Drought conditions have increased across Iowa in the last week, with all of Washington County now in drought. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 11.4-percent of Iowa is currently in moderate drought and 62.4-percent of the state is experiencing abnormally dry conditions. A week ago, just one-percent of the state was in moderate drought.
All of Washington County is in moderate drought, along with all of Keokuk, Jefferson, and Henry Counties. Louisa, Iowa, and Johnson counties currently have a mixture of abnormally dry and moderate drought conditions.
At this time last year, nearly 86-percent of Iowa was abnormally dry, 61.4-percent was in moderate drought, and 1.3-percent of the state was in severe drought.
