The Washington Demons ended their regular season on a loss Thursday, falling at home to the state-ranked Solon Spartans 71-57.
For the most part, Washington fought hard against a team that had outscored its opponents by an average of 21.5 points a game up until Thursday’s game. The Demons trailed by just 4 after the first, 20-16, but a rough second quarter allowed the eighth-ranked Spartans to take a 34-21 halftime lead. Solon extended that lead to 17 by the end of the third quarter, with Washington making up a little bit of that ground to close up the final score, 71-57.
Washington ends its regular season at 12-10. The Demons will next prepare for the playoffs, beginning with a rematch against SEC foe Burlington on the road Monday. The Bloodhounds have defeated Washington twice already this season, but by narrow margins.
