Two teams in the KCII-listening area will do battle tonight in Kalona, as the Hillcrest Academy boys host Keota.
Both Hillcrest and Keota have enjoyed success this season. The Ravens were crowned champions of the SEISC-North with a 15-1 conference record, and sit at 19-4 overall. Hillcrest features a high powered offense that is averaging 64.5 point per game this season. The Ravens are also no slouch on the defensive end, only allowing 50 points per game at the same time.
Meanwhile, Keota is coming off a solid year in the South Iowa Cedar League. The Eagles finished fourth in the SICL following a 10-6 conference season, and sit 15-6 overall, being undefeated in non-conference play. Keota, like Hillcrest, have an offense capable of scoring in bunches, averaging 61.9 points a game. Also, just like Hillcrest, the Eagles allow just under 50 points a game in their own right.
Hillcrest has a variety of options to look for on the offensive side of the floor. Junior Kale Bailey leads all scorers coming into the game at 17.1 points per game, but he’s backed up by senior Rowan Miller’s 14.9 points per game, and sophomore Gibson Scott’s 13.8 a night.
Keota will look for big nights from their senior duo. Chase Haifley averages 15.5 points per game, with Jackson Vittetoe right behind him at 13.9 points a night. Junior Porter Cave has also proven himself as a reliable scoring option, scoring just over 11 points a game.
You can catch tonight’s broadcast on FM106.1, the KCII1 app, and kciiradio.com. Pregame will begin at 6:30, with tip-off at 7 from Hillcrest Academy.
