The Keota Eagle boys basketball team dominated their opening round district contest Monday, eliminating visiting Twin Cedars from the Class 1A tournament at Keota High School 78-48. The Eagles were on top 22-15 after the first and 41-27 at half. Keota cruised from there, outscoring Twin Cedars 37-21 after halftime to finish the win. The Eagles out shot their opponents 45-29%, winning assists 23-6, steals 17 -4 and turnovers 20-8 with 42 total rebounds. Chase Haifley led Keota with 35 points, including six made threes, and eight steals. Porter Cave posted 11 points and Jackson Vittetoe had a 10 point and 10 assist double double. Ayden Galindo ended with 13 rebounds. Twin Cedars got 18 points from Holden Roberts. The win moves Keota into Thursday’s 1A District semifinals at Hillcrest Academy with a 15-6 overall record. The Saber’s season ends at 11-10.
