The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team closed the regular year Friday with a home loss to No. 3 Iowa City Regina 71-58. The Regals opened an early lead, winning the first quarter 19-10 and going up 38-24 at half. Mid-Prairie played even with Regina after the break, winning the second half 34-33, but would get no closer than nine down the stretch. The Regals won rebounding 33-20 and turnovers 14-5. Each team finished with 13 assists. Regina got 22 points from Tate Wallace and 14 each for Will Litton and Ben Wade. For Mid-Prairie, Brooks Weber connected on six threes for his 18 points, Bryce Henry added 17 points with six boards and Hudson Ehrenfelt finished with 10 points. The win moved Regina to 19-1 and helped them close out an undefeated River Valley Conference title at 14-0. Mid-Prairie drops to 15-6 entering the playoffs.
