An annual fundraiser that supports area victim survivors is returning for its 29th year.

DVIP & RVAP’s 29th Annual Souper Bowl fundraiser will be this Thursday, February 19th.

The Mission of DVIP & RVAP is to provide comprehensive support services to victims of domestic and sexual abuse, dating violence, stalking, and human trafficking, focusing on immediate and long-term safety, empowerment, dignity, and hope. Support for victim-survivors and their loved ones is available in Johnson, Iowa, Cedar, Des Moines, Henry, Lee, Van Buren and Washington Counties.

Alta Medea, Co-Executive Director and Chief Executive Engagement Officer with DVIP/RVAP, shares more about the event, “One of our largest events of the year, it is having its 29th year which is incredible for a fundraising event. It is at Big Grove in Iowa City, so a new location this year. Big Grove was incredibly generous by donating the space to us, as well as all of the chaffing dishes and things to keep those soups warm. We will have over thirty soups for folks, and it’s a great time, it’s a fun party type of atmosphere. We are really looking forward to it. Tickets are available online as well.”

Community support is vital to the work they do to protect and support survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, domestic abuse, dating abuse, and human trafficking.

Through the support of the event’s sponsors, 100% of the ticket purchase will go directly to supporting victim-survivors.

In honor of our 29th year, their goal is to raise $29,000 to continue providing confidential and free crisis intervention services to over 3,000 individuals annually, including residents of Washington County.
