The Keota Eagle boys and girls basketball teams carried plenty of momentum into the playoffs following a South Iowa Cedar League sweep of Belle Plaine last week. The Eagle girls rolled to a 60-16 win. They did not allow BP a field goal in the first quarter, leading 19-1 after one and the Eagles flew to a 21-5 run in the second that left them on top 40-6 at half. Keota outscored the home team 20-10 in the second half. Keota out shot their hosts 48-19%, won rebounding 32-12, assists 17-5, steals 18-12 and turnovers 32-22. Cameron Haifley led with 22 points. Emily Conger scored 13 and Jessalyn Aller 10. Elyse Lyle had eight rebounds, five steals and four assists. Karley Greiner added eight boards. The Plaineswomen had eight points from Brilee Fritcher. Keota was 16-5 with the win and BP 2-18 with the loss.

The boys game was another wire-to-wire Eagle winner 69-40. Keota led 17-7 after the first and a 19-7 Eagle sprint in the second gave them a 36-14 lead at half. Keota outscored Belle Plaine 33-26 in the second half. The Eagles won shooting 40-28% with 40 rebounds, taking assists 22-8, steals 18-7 and turnovers 24-9. Chase Haifley and Porter Cave split high man honors with 17 points each. Haifley had seven assists. Brennan McGuire added 10 points and five steals, Ayden Galindo 10 rebounds. Quentin O’Leary had 16 points to pace Belle Plaine. Keota was 14-6 with the win and BP remained winless.
