A race at the Demon Relays will be named after Carson Ryan, a Washington High School senior who passed away following a hunting accident in September. Ryan was one of the Demons who competed at the state track meet last season.

Track Coach Steve Roth presented to the school board during their meeting Wednesday, “He was a 400 [meter] guy, Carson was, and there is nobody more deserving to carry on that legacy in track and field. It’s a bad way to be here, but I just hope you understand why we are doing it, it’s just to carry on his legacy. There will be a little blurb read before the race, and we are going to do it for the girls and boys both. Mr. Dunlop and I started the Demon Relays, because he was a Demon guy, and I think Carson was a demon guy, too.”

The event that will bear Ryan’s name is the 400 meter low hurdles. Ryan participated in that event. The Demon Relays will be taking place April 9th.
