The Mid Prairie Golden Hawks sent seven groups to the Iowa High School Speech Association State Large Group Speech Contest last weekend at Clear Creek Amana High School and some will advance to the All-State Festival.

Of the seven groups, six received Division 1 ratings, and of those six, four earned nominations to participate in the IHSSA Large Group All-State Festival in Ames later this month.

The groups that received nominations, and will be moving on to the All-State Festival, include:

• Readers Theatre – The Price – Meredith Campbell, Ryann Dolan, Brock Lowenberg, Fiona McClellen, Stella Miller, Rebekah Rand, Lilly Redig, Addison Skelton, Parker Thomas, and Alastair Yeggy
• Musical Theatre – 9 to 5 – Jillian Clark, Ryann Dolan, Tabitha Fisher, Seth Groenewold, Wren Harris, Caroline Schrader, Parker Thomas, and Georgia White
• Ensemble Acting – Peril! – Tabitha Fisher, Greyson Ghumm, Seth Groenewold, Caroline Schrader, and Georgia White
• Group Improvisation – Jillian Clark, Brock Lowenberg and Greyson Ghumm

The Readers Theatre group has been nominated to perform their piece at the All-State Festival. The Musical Theatre, Ensemble Acting, and Group Improvisation groups were nominated as non-performing acts, and will still receive special recognition at the event. 

Only five percent of IHSSA performers, coming from all over Iowa, earn All-State nominations. The Mid-Prairie speech team is coached by Christine Meader and Lisa Helmuth.
