The Keota Eagle boys and girls took a trip to Marengo for South Iowa Cedar League basketball action against the Iowa Valley Tigers. The Eagle girls came away with a 63-34 win. After an 11-4 first quarter and 23-9 second frame Keota found themselves up 34-13 at half. The Eagles went on to outscore the Tigers 29-21 after break. The Eagles out shot Iowa Valley 53-21%, winning assists 13-7, steals 10-7 and turnovers 20-17. Cameron Haifely led scoring with 21 points. Kennedy Jackson had seven rebounds with 12 points. Emily Conger finished with five assists. The Tigers got nine points each from Myla Frimml and Olyvia Grant. Keota was 15-5 with the win and 10-4 in conference as Iowa Valley drops to 2-20.

The Eagle boys were on the wrong end of a 63-45 score. Iowa Valley led 15-9 after the first and Keota was down 27-23 at the break. The Tigers won the second half 36-22, including 20-11 in the third quarter to pull away for the win. Iowa Valley won from the floor 47-32%, rebounding 47-28, and assists 16-14. Chandler McKibben and Cole Long each had 18 points to pace the Tigers. Chase Haifley’s 11 point 10 rebound double double led the Eagles. Keota was 13-6 overall with the loss and 9-6 in conference while Iowa Valley moved to 11-10 on the season and 7-9 in the SICL.
