Coach Kasey Keltner of the Columbus girls’ basketball team picked up his 100th win on Monday, as his Wildcats upended Cardinal on the road, 58-49.

The Wildcats started slow, going down 18-9 after the first quarter, but Columbus recovered well enough to keep the deficit at 8 by halftime, 28-20. In the third quarter, Columbus used a 12-0 run to catapult themselves into their first lead of the game midway through the third, although they still trailed into the final quarter, 37-35. Fortunately for the Wildcats, they still had a bit more in the tank, putting forth a massive 23-point quarter to turn the tides and earn a 58-49 win.

Ellie Sanders and Iris Garza led the way with 19 points a piece, and Kennedy Woepking picked up 11. The Columbus girls are back above .500 for the season at 11-10, and are back in the win column following a disappointing loss to Van Buren County in the SEISC Shootout.

The Columbus boys, in the nightcap, completed the sweep of the Comets, winning 74-67.
