In a battle for a share SEC title, it was the Fairfield Trojans who came out on top Thursday, defeating Washington on the mat 41-40 after a tiebreaker.

The two teams were tied at 40-40 after all matches. The Demons received contested wins from Joseph Schreiber (fall), Clayton Bartholomew (fall), Caden Greiner (fall), Junior Valdez (fall), Jace Kinzenbaw (fall), and Rudy Wolfe (majority decision). Both Fairfield and Washington forfeited once, ultimately leaving the title to be decided on the mat.

Unfortunately for Washington, first period points were used to decide the tiebreaker, which gave Fairfield the edge.

With the regular season wrapped up, the Demons now turn their attention the District meet next Saturday at Williamsburg.
