A plan for improvements to the City of Washington’s park system was recently developed and reviewed by the city council. The Washington City Council heard a presentation from Bolten and Menk on the Washington Parks Master Plan at their meeting Tuesday.

Washington Mayor Millie Youngquist shared more about the plan, “There are some things that we plan to put in place for the coming year. It’s important to know that we are not using tax payer money for this, but these projects will be funded by the municipal grants that we receive annually from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. Some of the improvements that are on our list are the Central Park fountain and lighting upgrades, so this will be downtown. Pedestrian crossing signal at the Kewash Trail on Highway 1.”

The plan outlines multiple enhancements to safety measures. A redesign of North Park, and a park signage redesign for park unification. The presentation highlighted updates for parks throughout the city over the next few years.
