The details on the final event of the Southeast Iowa Superconference basketball season have been released.
This year’s Superconference Shootout will follow the familiar format of a team from each division matching up with one another based on league finish. On Thursday, the girls teams that finished third through eighth in the north will meet the team that finished in the same spot from the south in contests hosted at north schools. That schedule includes Columbus traveling to Louisa-Muscatine to meet Van Buren, and L-M in the second half of that doubleheader facing West Burlington. At Pekin Thursday, the night starts with Wapello taking on Holy Trinity and ends with the Panthers squaring off with Central Lee. At WACO, it’s Hillcrest Academy and New London in the opener with the home Warriors and Burlington Notre Dame in the nightcap. Friday night Winfield-Mt. Union will entertain Cedar Valley Christian.
In boys third through eighth seeded contests Friday, WACO will travel to Central Lee to take on West Burlington in the opener while the home Hawks host Pekin in the nightcap. At Holy Trinity it’s Danville against Wapello in the opener, as the home Crusaders match up with Columbus in game two. At Van Buren, New London will take the floor against Lone Tree to open and the Warriors will try to defend their home floor against Highland in the nightcap. L-M will host Cedar Valley Christian at Winfield.
Saturday will feature girls and boys final four contests. In the girls final four at Highland High School, the day starts with the conference runner-up game with Lone Tree taking on Danville. The Shootout championship game has the home Huskies against Mediapolis. In the boys final four Saturday evening at Notre Dame, it’s Winfield-Mt. Union against Mediapolis in the runner-up contest while Hillcrest Academy will take on the home Nikes in the Shootout title game.
