
A Fairfield teenager was killed in a two-vehicle collision that happened Saturday night in Jefferson County, about three miles west of Fairfield.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 18-year-old Emmelia Miller was driving north near the 2100 block of Hemlock Avenue and Cedar Creek, when she lost control of the vehicle due to weather conditions. Miller’s vehicle was then side struck by a Dodge Truck. Miller was not wearing a seatbelt and died from her injuries.
Two other passengers were injured, with one who was not wearing a seatbelt being transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by Jefferson County Sheriff’s personnel, Jefferson County Ambulance, Fairfield Police, Fairfield Fire Department, and the Libertyville Fire Department.
