P.L.A.N.T. Washington recently received a grant from Farm Credit Services of America. The local non-profit operates a community garden and orchard on property owned by the City of Washington and was established in 2024.
The $2,010 Working Here grant will support P.L.A.N.T.’s ongoing community engagement. This upcoming season the community garden will be teaching community members about seed starting, succession planting, and nutrition. Funds provided will also be used to construct 10 vegetable arches.
The Working Here Grants are used to benefit agriculture education, hunger relief, rural disaster relief and rural health services.
